I've sung with Coro Vocati for a few years, and this is my favorite project so far. The work is a modern oratorio, an emotionally gripping musical journey honoring the life and legacy of LGBTQ hate-crime victim Matthew Shepard.

There are about 30 members of Coro, and there will be a pit orchestra of about 9 (strings, percussion, guitar, piano, clarinet). Where it gets really interesting (from a choral director's point of view) is with compelling multimedia visuals and semi-staging (done by Rod Caspers, a former colleague of Craig Hella Johnson).

This great PBS special walks through the staging of the work by Conspirare. We're doing a revision of this that includes even more visuals and staging.
