I'm very excited that Patricia Norton chose my SONG DEEP IN YOUR BONES for her wonderful podcast "A Breath of Song." Patricia, who is the Choral Program Coordinator for at the Upper Valley Music Center in Lebanon NH, teaches what she calls "Pocket Songs," songs that you can carry along in your pocket as you go for a walk, clean your house, or take some time to just dive into your musical self.

I’ve written a new song READY OR NOT, and I’m inviting you to illustrate your favorite verse(s), which we’ll use to create a new music video. All artwork - drawings, paintings, sketches, photos, collages, sculptures - welcome! You can find all the information about the song, including lyrics and a sketch recording, and how to participate here:

READY OR NOT imagines our human journeys, through the image of packing a magic suitcase. At first whimsical, like Mary Poppins’ carpet bag, the song also takes us to the journeys of forced migration, the refugee’s journey, packing quickly the things most precious, tangible and intangible, objects as well as memories. From personal to communal to global – what are the journeys we must undertake, in the words of the MacArthur Foundation, “to create opportunities for exultation as we recognize the potential to create objects of beauty and awe, advance our understanding of society, and foment change to improve the human condition.”
