"My Mother, Music, and Dementia” with Joel Light
|
Joel honors his mother Arlene with a short documentary, "Fill Your Heart With
Song,” by filmmaker David Walker. Joel brings to life classic songs through singalongs, storytelling and movement. Joel has a Master’s in Theater Education and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner. Since 2018, he has presented performances for senior centers, and assisted living facilities, memory cafés, and other communities throughout greater Boston.

The global collective music and art project by Elise Witt & Jessica Lily has a new participatory incarnation at 7Stages Theater in Atlanta! There will be a suitcase with art supplies to illustrate those things most precious to you, and another suitcase to gather everyone's contributions. Join us (in person or virtually) to take part!

Sponsored by Carpe Diem Arts! for the Daily Antidote of Song, the film, “Ready or Not” is a collaborative project featuring a virtual chorus and artworks - paintings, sculptures, quilts, photos, collages, drawings, prints - from artists aged 3-83 from around the globe. “Ready or Not” imagines our human journeys, through the image of packing a magic suitcase. Both whimsical, like Mary Poppins’ carpet bag, and contemplative, reflecting on the journeys taken as forced departure, migration, the refugee’s journey... packing quickly the things most precious, objects as well as memories. What is most precious to you and the health of our communities, the health of our planet?
