Get the gritty\, technical\, sensual sense of how the voice can draw powerfully on vocal wisdom from many cultures. \n\n\n\nExplore the rainbow of colors inherent in our voices and join with other daring singers to create vocal landscapes\, soulful harmonies\, and impromptu sonic masterpieces. In her improvisation Singing Workshops\, Elise uses games and exercises from her studies with master teachers Rhiannon\, Bobbie McFerrin\, David Darling\, Dr. Fred Onovwerosuoke\, and Dr. Ysaye Barnwell\, which expand with our own creativity. We also explore SONGS as inspiration for improvisation. \n\n\n\nVocal Improvisation provides a safe and supportive space to stretch out and widen vocal horizons\, and to express our authentic selves. \n\n\n\nMusic reading is not a prerequisite\,but some knowledge of music theory can’t hurt. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFirst\, Register below: After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the class. DESCRIPTION:Freedom Quilt painted on canvas by Global Village Project Students with Danielle Ereddia\, Rachel Smith\, and Charmaine Minnefield\n\n\n\n\n5 Monday evenings on Zoom\n\n\n\n7:30 – 8:45 p.m.\n\n\n\nNov. 7 – Dec. 12 (no class Nov. 21)\n\n\n\n~ online zoom class ~~ limited class size ~ \n\n\n\nUpon registration\, you will receive a link to join\, and a link to a folder with all the music\, including mp3 sound recordings\, lyrics\, and music notation. \n\n\n\nThough we’ve now been able to have occasional live and in person sings\, we are still going strong online\, with ever more fun ways to be together in the virtual space. It’s been lovely having folks from Canada\, Vermont\, California\, Alabama\, Illinois\, Connecticut\, Colorado\, Tennessee\, Michigan\, and Virginia\, join our regular Atlanta crew of singers. And there are so many wonderful new songs to enjoy in this new format. Come join us! \n\n\n\nDiscover\, explore\, and expand your natural voice with Singing for FUN for EVERYONE online. DESCRIPTION:SUNDAY\, NOVEMBER 20\, 2022 AT 3:30 PM – 5 PM \n\n\n\nFishburn Mansion\, Roanoke VA\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt this month’s circle we will have two very special guest leaders visiting from out of town! Onome Om (https://www.onome.org/) and Elise Witt (https://elisewitt.com/web/) are two dear friends we met through circlesinging classes and workshops. They are creative sparks of light and love with decades of experience leading circlesinging and other forms of community singing. You don’t want to miss this circle! \n\n\n\nOnome (pronounced like “On a May afternoon”) designs and leads experiential workshops for a wide variety of audiences internationally at colleges\, corporations\, cultural centers\, and retreats. Through structured group improvisation and vocal embodiment practices\, Onome creates transformative moments that “a-ha!” you to new levels of self-discovery\, emotional freedom\, joy and creative flow. \n\n\n\nElise Witt performs concerts and workshops to create and connect singing communities around the globe. She has studied extensively and co-taught with Rhiannon. She also serves as Director of Music Programs at the Global Village Project a special purpose middle school for teenage refugee girls in Decatur GA\, where she uses singing to help students learn English\, share their cultures\, gain self confidence\, and learn to navigate their new world. \n\n\n\nMark your calendar and join us! \n\n\n\nThere’s parking behind the mansion between the mansion and the oak grove. Masks are optional. While our events are free\, we appreciate any financial support you can give so that we can compensate our special guests.
