Longtime ROOTS member and winner of the William L. Womack Creative Arts Award, Elise Witt<\/a>,\u00a0is excited to announce the release of her newest recording project\u00a0We\u2019re All BORN SINGING. <\/em><\/strong>Join Elise and a host of fabulous musicians at her CD and Book Release Concert,\u00a0Thursday, October 1 at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Decatur, GA (more information below).<\/p>\n

Rhiannon<\/a>, a founding member of Bobby McFerrin\u2019s Voicestra, calls Elise\u2019s new CD \u201cbrave and beautiful!\u201d We\u2019re All BORN SINGING<\/em><\/strong> is a wild departure from the 11 previous recordings of our ROOTS song leader. Spoken word, choral pieces, and soundscapes, join with an array of lush arrangements celebrating the power of music \u2014 especially singing \u2014 to vibrate us body and soul and bring us together as community.<\/p>\n

A majority of the songs on the new CD are ROOTS inspired:<\/p>\n

Highway to Nowhere<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0was\u00a0written for ROOTSFest 2011, and will continue to be used in the Baltimore Project.<\/p>\n

Song Deep In Your Bones<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0was inspired by the Clear Creek Festival.<\/p>\n

My Journey Yours<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0was created for a project at Refugee Family Services directed by ROOTS members Gwylene Gallimard & Jean Marie Mauclet.<\/p>\n

Evolution of an Idea<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0was part of The Darwin Project directed by ROOTS member Carol Burch Brown.<\/p>\n

Peace with Harmony <\/em><\/strong>is featured in a film by ROOTS member Bailey Barash.<\/p>\n

I See You With My Heart<\/em><\/strong> and English Is Weird<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0were written for and with the students at\u00a0Global Village Project<\/a>,\u00a0 a ROOTS Partners in Action<\/a> recipient, where Elise serves as Director of Music Programs.<\/p>\n
