Have you felt the tide on your toes
\nhave you felt the wind blow
\nhave you seen the sun come up
\nover the top of the ocean<\/p>\n

as the seagulls fly
\nthrough the clouds and the sky
\nfeeling the spray on their wings
\nand other lovely things
\nas they go by<\/p>\n

have you felt the sand on your legs
\nas the water laps up and begs
\nyou to get up and get in
\nto hop a few waves and then<\/p>\n

dry out under the sun
\nbury your feet until they’re gone
\nclose your eyes and hear the water play
\nhear it push and pull all day<\/p>\n

did you write your name in the sand
\ndid you dig a moat around
\na castle made of drips
\nand plastic buckets and shovels<\/p>\n

the tide pushed the castle down
\nbut then you built a better one
\nwith spires full of sand

did you float and look at the sky
\ndid the ocean take you high
\nover the crest, out of reach
\nand ride you back to the beach<\/p>\n

did you look for shells on the shore
\nand then run back out for more
