SAT. AUG. 3

2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

@ Clarkston Community Center

3701 College Ave, Clarkston, GA 30021

Please join the Coalition of Refuge Service Agencies (CRSA) and partners on Saturday, August 3 at the Clarkston Community Center for a national day of action to #RiseforRefuge and stand in solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers. Last week, reports surfaced indicating that the Trump Administration is considering admitting ZERO refugees in federal fiscal year 2020. This shocking news comes at the same time the administration announced a new rule essentially eliminating asylum protections at the southern border. We must NOT abandon our American tradition of providing safety and shelter to the world’s most vulnerable.

It is vital that we as Georgians speak up now to protect refugees and the life-saving resettlement program. Join us for this day of mass mobilization to hear from experts and community leaders and learn what YOU can do to send a strong message to the White House and Congress that we are a nation of refuge, not rejection.

Georgia has demonstrated incredible support for refugees over the 40-year history of its resettlement program. Since 2015, more than 589,000 volunteer hours have been donated to CRSA member agencies. Just last year, more than 200 faith communities, 200 schools and universities, 300 businesses, and 300 civic organizations supported the welcoming work of CRSA members, and more than 100 Georgia businesses employed refugees. The U.S. Refugee Program was founded as a partnership between the federal government and local communities, and this generous support from Georgians has ensured that our state has one of the most successful refugee resettlement programs in the nation.

*For new American community members: staff from CRSA member organizations will be on-site to answer general questions about resettlement and immigration; interpretation will be provided.*
