This complimentary one-day festival features an eclectic range of artistic responses to Joy Harjo’s An American Sunrise, including READY OR NOT, Jessica Lily & my collaborative film and art project.

We have art supplies ready for you to add your inspiration of packing a suitcase with the things most precious and important to you. The suitcases that hold your artwork belonged to my great grandfather Franz von Mendelssohn, and were brought to the US by my family when I was 4.

The festival encourages audiences and Little 5 Points visitors to honor the Muscogee and Creek people and their land. As we shed light on colonialism and complacency, we celebrate ancestors and commit to future generations through art-making and story-sharing.

This is a Spontaneous Improvisation with the audience at Steve's Live Music in Atlanta. It is a song of gratitude to live music, to all the musicians who make playing so much fun, and to folks who come to listen and are also willing to become part of the music.
