Every day at NOON (Eastern US)

FRI. NOV. 20: Song Leader Elise Witt

Archive Challenge Nov 2020

This week, the Daily Antidote of Song is partnering with the

Archive of the Library of Congress American Folklife Center.

I am thrilled to be part of this week featuring Peggy Seeger (England), Cissa Paz (Brazil), Judith Cohen (Sephardic Canada), Ahi (Ontario Canada), Rik Palieri (Vermont), and Kamyar Arsani (Iran Washington DC), celebrating 225 days of singing!

Come join my 21st century adaptation of the Archive's song "Jennie Jenkins".

The Daily Antidote of Song is produced by Washington Revels and Carpe Diem Arts, with participants from 46 states and more than a dozen countries. It was originally designed to help people during isolation — but as the growing community has continued to sing together and to navigate other national and international challenges, the songs have become increasing focused on racial and social justice and peace, while continuing to sing also for the benefit of creating joy, strength, and community during tough times. Song leaders are joining from all across the US, as well as from Canada, Europe, and Africa.

Everyone is invited to join this free program each day at noon Eastern US time:

or to view and sing along anytime after that:

Jacqueline Howard wrote a wonderful version of Otis Redding's classic song for the Global Village Project. We sang it at the Harriet Tubman Museum in Macon, Otis' hometown, and his daughter Karla Redding-Andrews loved it!
