Today at Noon EST on North Avenue Lounge, host Shannon Turner interviews Doris Mukangu and me about our work in the Clarkston community.
Clarkston GA has become known as “the most diverse square mile in the US.
Doris is an amazing and powerful community leader, and founder/director of Amani Women’s Center. Amani’s vision is to create a one-stop safe haven for refugee women of all cultures, who are seeking a space for spiritual, mental, and physical healing. Amani provides life skills to educate and empower refugee women with culturally sensitive tools that contribute to their overall well being. Amani’s products are unique in that they are handmade from recycled cloth, beads and seeds. The program opens up a world of opportunities and possibilities for expressing the creative side of the women while they are earning an income.
