Description
The poem for Song Deep in Your Bones was born at the Clear Creek Festival in Disputanta KY. Powered by solar energy, Clear Creek’s music, theater, homegrown food, and workshops on sustainability and good living, inspire us to live in harmony with nature and one another.
A year later, I was playing with some music that sprang out of a rhythmic body percussion dance. The melodies revealed themselves through the steps of my feet, the claps of my hands, and the joyous odd meters that sang themselves out of my heart. What words would join this music? Lo and behold, sitting on the piano was the Clear Creek poem, waiting for music. And imagine my surprise when the words and the music fit together as if they had been created for each other. Which, unbeknownst to me, I guess they were.
I encourage you to include body percussion and movement with Song Deep in Your Bones. Enjoy the odd meters and let them dance the song in your voices and your bodies!
