Have you felt the tide on your toes
have you felt the wind blow
have you seen the sun come up
over the top of the ocean
as the seagulls fly
through the clouds and the sky
feeling the spray on their wings
and other lovely things
as they go by
have you felt the sand on your legs
as the water laps up and begs
you to get up and get in
to hop a few waves and then
dry out under the sun
bury your feet until they’re gone
close your eyes and hear the water play
hear it push and pull all day
na, na, na, na, na, na
did you write your name in the sand
did you dig a moat around
a castle made of drips
and plastic buckets and shovels
the tide pushed the castle down
but then you built a better one
with spires full of sand
made by your own hands and in your own way
did you float and look at the sky
did the ocean take you high
over the crest, out of reach
and ride you back to the beach
did you look for shells on the shore
and then run back out for more
close your eyes and feel the water play
feel it push and pull you all day
la, la, la, la, la, la, la, (Repeat Verse 1)
