Description
Discover, explore, and expand your natural voice
Singing for Fun is both a forum for individuals to learn more about their own voice, and a way to build community.
Since last March, I’ve has been experimenting with online singing, and though it is very different from live and in person, we are discovering ways to make it fun, engaging, and satisfying. Join us and give it a try!
We’ll learn songs that explore the vast expression of harmony from around the world. There are lots of songs in English, including songs from the African American tradition, quirky rounds, food songs, my originals, and lots more! Drawing from my love of diverse melodies and rhythms, I might also introduce a Brazilian samba, a Congolese storysong, an Italian round, or four-part harmonies from Zimbabwe.
The classes include body and voice integration, calling in elements of Tai Chi, Yoga, and Alexander Technique, as well as dance, theater, vocal improvisation, and body percussion to focus on breath and ease of movement.
And each month, I feature a Special Guest to bring one of their songs to us.
Guests so far have included, Lea Morris Eiizabeth Melvin Terry Garthwaite Hank Smith, Becky Reardon Velma Frye Barbara McAfee, Karen Porkka…. and now that geography is not an issue, many more guests from near and far on the horizon!
