In 1985, my band the Small Family Orchestra went on a cultural exchange to the revolutionizing country of Nicaragua. Traveling from Jinotepe to Matagalpa, from Leon to Esteli, we met amazing artists and musicians, using their art to empower the people after years of brutal dictatorship. It was this trip to Nicaragua that introduced me to Boston musicians Rosi & Brian Amador and their band Flor de Caña. Our two bands felt an intense kinship and did a number of collaborative concerts in Boston and Atlanta. Currently Rosi & Brian lead the band Sol y Canto, and also created Amador Bi-Lingual Voiceovers, using their bi-lingual talents to read audio books, create voices for film and educational models.
