From the Archives at The Children’s Music Network: Thank You by Elise Witt
From the Archives is a series created in tandem with new PIO! Editor Brigid Finucane. We share songs from the extensive archives here at CMN by our own, wonderful members. This song, perfect for the Holiday season, is by Children’s Music Network member Elise Witt
“Thank You” was written during a residency at Garden Hills Elementary School in Atlanta GA. My students spoke 40 different languages among them, and we all shared the way our culture says “thank you.”
Elise was born in Switzerland and speaks five languages fluently. She has been fascinated with language since moving to the United States as a 4-year old, and aspires to learn all the languages in the world. Her programs for students “A Musical Trip Around the World” and “Music is Language/Language is Music,” get students excited about language and culture through singing and composing. Since 2008, Elise has been creating a music program at the Global Village Project, a school for teenage refugee girls in Decatur GA, teaching English through singing and songwriting. Elise also teaches An Impromptu Glorious Chorus™ community vocal workshops for adults around the United States and around the globe. Her latest recording We’re All BORN SINGING, celebrates the power of music, especially singing to vibrate body and soul and bring us together as community.
